Hi, I became involved towards the end of this. I do know that a number of boys involved had contacted NAYPIC.Police and Brent SSD were trumpeting this as a successfull co-operative investigation between them. There were 144 KNOWN victims of this ring and 22 arrests were made. The people involved were buying and selling properties to use as brothels, also leasing and renting properties. They were also moving the boys around. We knew for instance that the boys would be picked up from the homes by taxi’s, yet apparently nobody in the homes or SSD’s thought this odd or unusual. Some boys were paid in cash, others with perks, ie care workers would take them shopping for designer jeans, trainers, etc. I can tell you that local authority clothing allowances for kids in care were more Petticoat Lane than Topshop! Indeed many SSD’s still used the voucher system! There was evidence from victims of abusee and grooming within the homes and that they were then supplied to the ring. We also knew these perverts were charging between £50 and £500 depending on the age of the boys. There was also evidence that dummy companies were used to launder money. Yet we are asked to believe that this highly organised and sophisticated operation was carried out by a shoe repairer, a clerk and an unemployed labourer!! Yes there are fairies at the bottom of my garden too!!!

Unbelievable…and the operation was closed down prematurely with detectives saying ‘they feared a continuing conspiracy involving people in high places’….and that they had ‘only scratched the surface’. We know a Palace of Westminster official, a vicar, and a House of Lords official were questioned, but obviously they were never charged.

Hi, yes thats all true. What struck me most about this was it was a perfect blueprint of how such rings operated and also how they ended. It was always a few sacraficial goats at the lowest level that ended up in the dock. Also how very few questions were asked even in court about the identities of “punters”, as I later found out at the EGH both victims and abusers if interviewed by police were only ever interviewed as “witnesses”.t

Hi Murun, further to your comments yesterday. I have checked back thru my records. I see that in Aug 1988 Mary Moss and I had a meeting at New Scotland Yard with Det Sup Les Bennett. We expressed our concerns about the lack of any arrests over the huge amount of child pornography seized in the Brent raids and the failure to act over Colin Peters QC,we had complaints from boys and porn pictures(this was long before we knew of his involvement at EGH). He made it bluntly clear to us that he did’nt want to hear of any allegations about “people in high places”(his words) – it was’nt his job!! He also made it clear that we should not approach his squad unless we had concrete evidence to secure a conviction!!I pointed out we were a group of Young people IN care – not a police force, but basically said we should mind our own business and leave other matters to police!! Sorry Bennett was head of the Obscene Publications Squad.
