    Sex case teacher resigns

A primary school teacher, convicted of sex offences against young boys, has left his job at Campie primary, Musselburgh.

Mr Adrian Webb, 34, who had been on leave of absence for some months, has agreed to go after reaching a financial settlement with the education authority, Lothian Regional Council.

He had been suspended from his teaching job at a school in Dalkeith and underwent a General Teaching Council investigation before being transferred to the school in Musselburgh.

The affair was highlighted after a newspaper report of Mr Webb’s conviction and 200 fine at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last year. He had been convicted of using lewd and libidinous practices towards four boys.

Some parents at the Musselburgh school to which he had been transferred protested and after a meeting with the education department in May Mr Webb was given leave of absence.
