Demand that the BBC show Peter Righton documentary

“This was not just a ring – it’s more like the Olympic rings, interlocking on a large scale. It went everywhere. I believe it went to the heart of the Establishment.”

Peter Righton

Anyone who relies on the BBC for news will be completely unaware that there are currently a number of police investigations into historical child sexual abuse as a result of Tom Watson’s PMQ last October.

One of these investigations focusses on a powerful network of paedophiles linked to a child care expert called Peter Righton. This network was systematically abusing children in care homes and schools across the UK for several decades. The original police investigation in the early 1990s was shut down and the matter has been covered up for 20 years.

Peter Righton was protected by other paedophiles including “a former senior government minister”, and as a result he was never jailed for his long career of sexually abusing children. However, a BBC Inside Story documentary in 1994 called ‘The Secret Life of a Paedophile’ trashed his reputation, which was of some consolation to the social work professionals who had exposed him but hadn’t seen him brought to justice.

The BBC’s reputation is in tatters after the Jimmy Savile scandal, and they are seen by many around the world as an organisation that condones paedophilia. Something they could do to help rebuild their reputation would be to show the Peter Righton documentary at a peak-time slot, which would educate the British public about the national scandal of a paedophile network preying on vulnerable children. The British newspapers, with the exception of the Sunday People and the Mirror, have also been silent about the Peter Righton investigation, but this must change and the BBC must take the lead.

The BBC have a duty to respond to any complaints, so I would suggest complaining about the lack of news coverage of the Peter Righton investigation, and demand that the Inside Story documentary is shown at a peak-time slot, with a new introduction explaining the current investigation.

This is the documentary, it’s only had 8,000 views so far on YouTube. We need millions to see this…

  1. In my opinion it did go to the heart of the establishment, no ifs or buts.
