PIE MEN RETRIAL (Daily Mirror, 1st February 1981)

After retiring for nearly nine hours, an Old Bailey jury failed to agree in a case involving members of the Paedophile Information Exchange, which promotes sexual love with children.
One man, 37-year-old lorry driver David Wade, of Brooke Road, Stoke Newington, London, was cleared of two charges of conspiring to corrupt public morals.
The Common Serjeant Judge John Leonard, QC, ordered a retrial on similar charges against Thomas O’Carroll, 35, former Press Officer at the Open University; John Parratt, 32, hot dog seller, of Putney, London; and Michael Dagnall, 33, butcher, of Totton, Hants.
The charges concern contact pages published in PIE’s magazines.
